About Trish

My name is Trish and I'm creeping slowly past my mid-twenties. I have two sons, a daughter- They are my world. My oldest son, Rhett (Yes, like Rhett Butler) has autism. It doesn't define him, but it is a part of whom he is, and Autism is something of which I am a proud advocate. Rhett is a major foodie and a mama's boy. He is the child who transformed me into the person I am today, and for that I am forever indebted.

Cailum is my son in the middle. He's artistic and sporty and he has the makings of a great comedian. He is also quite a mama's boy and a strong and proud brother. He takes on the big brother role for both siblings and has a special understanding that Rhett is a special boy. Cailum is constantly making me proud. His newest interests are martial arts, comics, and Transformers. Dinosaurs and sea creatures have been his great loves since as far as he can remember.

Chloe is literally the stuff dreams are made of. So gorgeous and so sweet! A beautiful girl who can be as rough-and-tumble as her big brothers. She's sure not to let anybody push her around. She's also a foodie, but more partial to sweets than her brother. She's showing signs of being a stylish little diva in her own right.  I am so lucky to know my children, and so proud that I got to be the one to bring them into this world. They are the sunshine after the storm. I've severed a lot of ties to get to the shit-reduced environment in which we live today.

I'm a fairly positive person but also I've got a somewhat dark and deranged sense of humor. You have to, to adapt and make the most of the hands life has dealt me. My personality used to be something that was best described as "an acquired taste" but I've come a long way and now the consesus is that I can be quite charasmatic and charming.  I'm pretty sure becoming a mother is what made the difference.

After long living a life of low self esteem and insecurities, I wanted to surround myself in beautiful things.I developed a knack for beautifying and stylizing people and things in many ways. I know many styles and many tricks of the trade to help one along (e.g. colour theory). I have a true passion for helping people look and feel their best and I usually take any chance I can get to help someone transform into their best, most beautiful and happiest self.

I love old movies, especially horror. My favorite actress is Bette Davis. I also adore Gene Tierney. Most of my favorite music is from the 1950's-1960s. I like Dion & the Belmonts, Del Shannon, Elvis Presley, Rosie & the Originals, Mad Marge & the Stonecutters, Tiger Army, the Nekromantix, Devil Doll, and the vast majority of golden oldies. Be it Doo Wop, Motown, Rhythm & Blues, Rock and Roll. You name it. I used to be really into kitsch and Rockabilly culture. I keep telling myself I need to regain my personal style, but I've kind of been in a jeans-and-tshirt slump for the last year or so. Favorite monster? It's a tie between zombies and werewolves. Vampires are too romantic and frilly for my taste.

I'm combating curly frizzy hair, a face full of freckles, and an especially yellow undertone. I have been loyal to MAC for many years but I've been known to drop a pretty penny in Sephora. Make Up For Ever eyeshadows are so richly pigmented, such unique colours. They also have the only foundation I've found that matches my pale yellow skin perfectly. Hair is another story. When it comes to brands of hair product I am all over the board. Always looking for something new! This is true of skin care as well.

In the planning stages of piecing together a lighthearted and humorous book about life with Rhett. This won't really be a parenting book. I know I'm not a perfect parent, but a damn good one anyway. If someone were to take something away from my potential book, I would want it to be that you need a sense of humor when dealing with autism. You have to have it, or you will crash and burn. You have to keep an open mind and prepare to drop all plans, hopes, and dreams and improvise. Start from scratch. Reinvent the wheel. Just fly by the seat of your pants and remember to laugh. It will keep you sane! I would also like to write a children's book called "Rhett is an Artist." It's inspired by my own mother, who often accidentally says "artistic" instead of "Autistic." I'm sure you can piece it together.
