Makeup Kit 101

I've compiled a list of the makeup items I think any makeup artist should have to start out. It's also a great list for your personal kit, minus some disposables. I make note that I'm not a professional makeup artist. I'm in it for the fun of it... but that may change. These are mostly guidelines with suggestions of my favorite products or most popular choices.

*Most of my prices are estimates from what I remember paying or seeing on websites. Some were US, some were CAD, so consider my quote loosely.

Blah blah blah. So what's in the Kit?

*Tip: It's easier and more organized to buy palettes and depot your shadows, or simply buy the refills at a lower price. This allows you to create your own palette, saves time rather than pawing through several clangy little containers, and may help keep shadows from smashing together and breaking. Remeber to label your colours!

Just remember that it takes time and money to obtain all of these things. You don't need it all right off the bat. I've been working on my collection for 7 years now. Go for the important things, and remember to practise your "blank canvas."

The best piece of advice I've read (wish I remembered the source!) goes as follows: It doesn't matter how many bright colours you can pack onto an eyelid, if you can't create a flawless face your work will suffer.
