The Kidlets

There's a lot more going on behind these eyes than gooey black makeup buildup. I can't say I've ever felt so distracted before. For this reason I haven't really been in the headspace to create the content that I have on my chopping block. So, here, some WCW's I forgot to post (as usual!) and pictures of my boys snacking after daycare.

Chloë is wearing a little cotton H&M dress with a generous coat of drool... and apparently a dirty diaper. Ew! I'm sorry (I actually REMEMBER that diaper. It was pretty... mustardy.

On this day she wore her brother's old Ecko(?) shirt  from Winners (I'm sorry but I think it's hilarious to dress my kids like little gangsters on occasion) and some cropped legging with flower detail from the spring line at Bonnie Togs.

Chloë and I were on the go today. She wore her purple H&M shoes and hat, along with her favorite leopard print H&M sweater and her Bonnie Tog skinny jeans with embroidered flowers. Underneath she was sporting her tattoo inspired Six Bunnies onesie (which we got at London Rock) ... Oh! And she accessorized with her fabulous pink purse.

EOTD: Newly Minted & Rhettski!

Today I used Newly Minted (for the first time, I think.) I primed with UDPP and applied...

  • Aspen Summit No. 23 (A frosty white) all over the lid, and up to the brow with a lighter hand
  • Newly Minted on the outer 3rd of each eyelid
  • Juxt, blended up slightly above the crease
  • Deep Truth, applied to the crease with a small angle brush and blended up and inward
  • Blacktrack Fluidline on the lash line
  • Feline on the waterline
  • Nylon on the inner water line & to highlight the brow bones
  • False Lashes Extreme Black mascara

I also snagged some pictures with my main man, Rhettski.<3

FOTD & NOTD: Purple Crazy & Family Pictures!

Today I was feeling a little purple-crazy. I did an eye showcasing my absolute favorite shadow in the world. MUFE's Purple 92. Gorgeous purple, richly pigmented, so easy to work with. I accompanied this super bold eye with a purple leopard print nail. Well, sort of purple. It was a pinky purple base with a red micro-pearl, dotted with a purpley blue with a red micro-pearl. I used Seche Base, and ORLY "Won't Chip" so I'll let you know how well they wear in a few days.

The kids and I went egg hunting at Citi Plaza. Rhett was not in the best shape after this outing. Sometimes he can handle crowds, sometimes he cannot. Today was the latter. After that we came home and had an egg hunt in the backyard with the boys' friend Conner.

To recreate this eye, you'll need:

  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • MAC Blanc Type (base)
  • MAC Crystal (lid wash)
  • MAC Vellum (inner half of lid, and to blend 93 up towards brow bone)
  • Make Up For Ever shade "92" (outer 3rd, use w/angle brush to cut inner crease)
  • MAC Sketch (use with angle brush to cut outer crease)
  • MAC Nylon (to highlight brow bone & tear duct)
  • MAC Fluidline in "Dark Diversion" (to line lash line, Sketch would substitute)
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide liner in "Baked" (a golden shade, to line water line)
  • MAC Feline eyeliner, to (line inner 3rd of water line)
  • MAC False Lashes Extreme Black
  • MAC Embark to fill in my brows
For the lip I used:

  • Wet 'n Wild liner in shade 666, "Brandywine"
  • Rimmel London lipstick in "Asia"
  • MAC gloss in "Oversexed"
And on my face:
  • Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush makeup in "Vanilla"
  • Sally Hansen Inspired by Carmindy blush creme in "Ginger"
  • Tarte "Smooth Operator" translucent finishing powder
So without further rambling, I present you... More pictures of makeup, nails, kids.

I thought he was trying to play ball, but the Easter Bunny had placed an egg on top of the ball :D

"I found it!"

Rhett's made a discovery!

Some brotherly competition.

Rounding up the troops.

Something along the garden...

"Yaaay!"

That's all, folks <3

EOTD: Spring Fresh (+Easter Nails, Kid Pictures!)

It's unexpected... fresh... and just in time for spring! It's simple, yet interesting and I quite enjoy it. I'm pretty tired after a big hunt for inspiring nailpolish, so I'll give you the short version. :D I prepped my face and eye area in my usual way (see my other FOTD, EOTD's and you'll know how I roll.) The other thing to know is that if I just name a shade and no brand, I can almost guarantee that I am talking about MAC. So if I don't specify, assume MAC!

 I used:
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • Blanc Type
  • Lucky Green
  • Chartreuse pigment
  • Amber Lights
  • Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner
  • MAC False Lashes Extreme Black
  • MAC Nylon
  • MAC Stubborn Brown pencil
And this was the technique, if you could call it that:
  • Apply your primer and a base
  • Take a short, stiff shading brush and pick up your Lucky Green. Tap the excess off and pack the colour all over your eyelid with a patting motion. I start from the inner corner and work outwards
  • Dampen your brush slightly (Fix+ works great for this, or any water in a squirt or aerosol can even) and dip it into your Chartreuse pigment. Be especially sure to tap the excess because you can get a lot of fallout from pigments. (I recently learned that a little moisturizer on a sponge or Q-Tip does an awesome job wiping away fallout!) Pat the Chartreuse down over the Lucky Green and watch the magic happen! Haha. The colour is gorgeous
  • Now you'll need your pencil brush or whatever you find works best for creasework (I use my MAC 219 religiously for this.) Pick up Amber Lights on your brush and apply to the outter half of your crease with a feathering motion, then a windshield wiping motion
  • Using a fluffy angled brush, sweet Nylon from the outer corner of your eye up and across your brow bone. I also highlighter the inner corner above my tear duct (but not on my eyelid)
  • Now using a blending brush, you'll want to blend the edges of your Amber Lights up into the Nylon.
  • Pick up a little bit of Amber Lights on your pencil brush and apply it to the outer 3rd or half of your lower lash line, just below the water line
  • Line your waterline with MAC Stubborn Brown pencil
  • Tightline your lashes with Stila liquid liner
  • Slick on a coat or two of MAC False Lashes Extreme Black
It's a really easy look to create and doesn't take much time at all. I paired it with MAC Style on my cheeks, which is somewhat of a peachy/orange/golden blush, and a coral lipgloss (which you'll see below in the picture of Chloe and I!)

I also made some purchases I'll be reviewing with you shortly.
  • Seche Base
  • Magnetic Force by Color Club in "Electro-Midnight"
  • Nicole by O.P.I Drying Drops
  • ORLY "Won't Chip" Top Coat
I tried out a quick Easter nail...

And snapped a couple pictures of pure sunshine for you!

Overdue Update: Now Introducing... Chloë!

After more than a year of bloglessness, I am pleased to predict a comeback. I am working on fixing one or all of my 3 computers. In the meantime I have been busy with the boys... and their gorgeous new sister! Chloë was born November 8th, 2011. I have been so tied up with little baby kisses and making tutus. Here are some of my masterpieces:

General Update

Rhett had a not-so-fantastic day at the splash pad while my mom, Cailum, and I waited out Chad's visit with his kids. It was Father's Day weekend and so there was a car show at the park. The place was packed and Rhett was not in the mood. When I'd had enough of his misbehaving I took his hand and led him to the car. Or tried to. It was not so simple.

There was heavy traffic flowing through the park and Rhett thought he was too much of a badass to hold mommy's hand. Plus mommy is mean! So he bit. And he bit... I wish I could post a picture of these two bites. I feel inclined to get a tetanus shot! Shaking him off of me was absolutely out of the question because if I had he surely would have ran right into a car. I don't physically discipline, either- though I would have liked to at that moment. I guess my high frustration was the reason why I barely felt the bite that broke skin. Until after, that was. Tiny black dots marking each of his teeth, with surrounded and filled by a purple and red circle, with an open wound in the middle. Rhett snarling with my blood smeared across his mouth, and tons of people staring. Not a pretty picture!!

After this I decided it would be best to put him back on his medication. I hate the idea of medicating any child for behavioural reasons. Especially my baby. Alas, it seems to be the only way to keep him from hurting himself and literally eating my flesh. And before you tell me to give him a slap, I should mention that this is a boy who broke two bones in his foot, nearly severing his toe, and did not feel an ounce of pain, even for a second. What good would it do?

So now that he is back on his medication he is crashing at about 4:00 pm every evening and waking up at 9:00 or 10:00 am. I've been enjoying the break for the past few days, but starting tomorrow it is time to get him back on schedule.

And now for some Cailum news! Cailum crawled today. At 1 week he rolled over, at 3 weeks he began smiling for more than just gas reasons, and at 4 months he is crawling to me! He kind of sucks at it, but we are proud anyway. Especially big brother Rhett, who got on hands and knees beside him and crawled along. Aww Rhettski! Such a proud big brother. Cailum is still very cautious of him, however.

Andddd if you noticed the colour change in my character's hair up there, it is in accordance to my own. I'm now sporting a light Auburn. Chad pre-lightened my hair, processing the ends first to ensure an even lift, then I rinsed without shampoo or conditioner and applied the colour. FYI: My local Shopper's Drugmart is selling certain shades of red on clearance for $1.00 CAD. Perhaps yours is, too!

Also- Chad bought me another Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil. The colour is called Baked. It's a rather bold bronze, and I'm psyched to wear it tomorrow! I love these liners. Expect a review in the near future.
